Statement of Consent
Please read and understand the following before taking part in a tour

1. Depending on weather and snow conditions, tour destinations may be changed, or the tour cancelled.
2. Backcountry skiing and snowboarding involves the risk of injury or death. Our guides have advanced training in areas such as avalanches, weather, first-aid and rescue, and will do everything possible to assess and minimize dangers, and provide first-aid and rescue in the event of an accident. However, neither the school, nor the guides individually are to be held responsible for accidents. injuries or death resulting from tour participation.
3. We strongly suggest that all those taking part in backcountry tours have an active insurance policy which covers outdoor activities such as this. Do to chanegs in the Japanese insurance industry, we can no longer provide one-day insurance coverage as in the past.
4. Despite the above, please also be advised that MBSS has an excellent safety record, with no major accidents in more than two decades (beyond the typical scrapes and strains that come from skiing in challenging snow and terrain). We will do everything possible to ensure the safety of our guests—and that you have fun!

Notes on tours/registration
1. MBSS makes every effort to ensure that tours are as safe as possible; however, skiing, particularly in the backcountry, inherently involves a number of risks involving snow conditions, weather, terrain, and even the skier’s own skills and experience (see more in the notes below, left)

2. Everyone taking part in a backcountry tour should be covered by the proper insurance, and possess the minimum basic gear needed (avalanche beacon, shovel, probe, skins for your own skis or snowshoes, etc.—see tour page for more information).

3. Please make your tour reservations at least two days in advance of the tour date; for reservation by telephone, please call before 5:30 p.m.
